Doireann Garrihy will channel Maura Higgins, Rozanna Purcell, and SoSueMe in the upcoming series of The Doireann Project.

The third series of the Dublin native’s comedy sketch show will air on the RTÉ Player on May 17th.

The influencer extraordinaire wowed viewers with her celebrity impersonations in Seasons 1 and 2 of The Doireann Project and is back with even more hilarious skits.

Fan favourite characters such as SoSueMe, Daithi and Maura, and School Gate Mam will be returning but viewers can also expect a new impression of a familiar face - the one and only Maura Higgins - to grace our screens.

The promotional trailer also teases a cameo from Fungie the dolphin, who has gone incognito and says he’s “trying to keep a low profile” since his infamous disappearance last year.

Doireann is “ecstatic” that her show is returning and said that Season 3 will be the best one yet.

The show’s leading lady said: “I’m ecstatic that The Doireann Project is back - bigger and better than ever.

“The old reliable characters make a return with a bang, plus a brand-new character - a certain Longford Lady - makes her own kind of bang, as only she can!

“I hope season three brings a much-needed laugh,” she added.

Hopefully the new series of the RTÉ Player is worth it as the 28-year-old revealed that she dislocated her knee during filming and had to be carried off set.

Back in March, she told her Instagram followers about the “mortification” of the ordeal.

“While filming The Doireann Project on Friday, the final scenes of the day, I was sitting in a chair and bent to the side to pick up my script and go tobann, out popped my knee,” Doireann explained.

“Most of the time I can pop it straight back in but this time it simply wouldn't happen.

“So the crew had to dismantle the set while I sat like this (my leg gets jammed at a 90 degree angle) with my foot resting on a box.

“Tried again to pop it back but no luck. I'll never live down the mortification of YELPING in pain in front of all the crew.

“We were filming upstairs in a house, so Paddy (Doireann's boyfriend) had to come to my rescue and carry me down the stairs.

“Again, I refused to let the crew carry me... I would never be able to look them in the eye professionally again.”

The Doireann Project is available to watch on RTÉ Player from May 17.
