'Biggest regret' RTE 2FM's Jennifer Zamparelli says she regrets 'getting the old tubes tied'
RTÉ's Jennifer Zamparelli has said she deeply regrets having a tubal ligation procedure to prevent any future pregnancies.
The 40-year-old 2FM presenter said she wishes she had not taken such a significant step when she gave birth to her last child Enzo (2).
She also has daughter Florence (5) with husband Lau.
"That can't happen," she said when asked on air by Lottie Ryan if she planned any more children.
"One of the biggest regrets of my life is getting the old tubes tied, but that's a whole other conversation."
She had the procedure done while giving birth to her son two-and-a-half years ago, but started doubting her decision last year.
"Maybe a year ago, I started going 'Hmmm'," she said.
Asked if it was "fixable", she said that it was not reversible.
Speaking previously about the decision, she said she and Lau opted for the procedure in February 2018 while she was in hospital.
"My tubes are tied. I had a C-section, and while the surgeon was down there - job done. Lau really didn't want to have any more," she said.
"Life is busy enough with two and with work, and the jobs we're in, they're not steady."
As well as fronting her own 2FM breakfast show, she had been co-presenting Dancing With The Stars, and told VIP Magazine she had been "working my ass off for 10 years to get to this point".
"It's not an overnight success, it didn't just happen," she said.
Ungodly
"I've been chipping away doing great television shows, doing sh**ty television shows, getting rejected, getting ideas rejected.
"I've done five years on breakfast radio and I think everybody who works those ungodly hours deserves a medal for getting up.
"When we started on Breakfast Republic - myself, Bernard O'Shea and Keith Walsh - there was some hatred towards us.
"You should have seen the texts we got, but it grew to become one of the biggest breakfast shows in our demographic."
