A number of Irish celebrities have shared touching Instagram tributes to the ladies in their lives to mark International Women's Day 2021.

Celebrated every March 8th, International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.

Irish stars such as Rozanna Purcell, Greg O’Shea, Laura Whitmore, and Rosanna Davison all commemorated the event online.

Former Miss Universe Ireland Roz Purcell highlighted the importance of International Women’s Day to her Instagram followers.

The 30-year-old said: “Today is the day that we have to acknowledge all the inspiring women who have inspired us along the way and still do and give us a helping hand.”

She also listed a selection of her favourite inspirational women, including Adi Roche and Olympian Sonia O’Sullivan.

Mary McAleese was also mentioned in Roz’s list, who said that the former president encouraged women to take on leadership roles.

“Yes, we can become president of Ireland. Maybe not me, I’ve done too many bikini photos,” she joked.

Meanwhile, Love Island’s Greg O’Shea paid tribute to his mum and sister with a photo of the trio enjoying some afternoon tea.
