Pippa O’Connor has opened up about suffering a miscarriage last October after years of trying for another baby with husband Brian Ormond.

The well-known influencer (36), who is pregnant with a sibling to Louis (8) and Ollie (5) this Autumn, said she was left devastated by the loss after having a miscarriage late last year.

“I don’t want to be getting too sad or emotional when I'm actually so happy but I suppose when you say something out loud, it is emotional,” she said.

“I went for my second scan and unfortunately, there was no heartbeat and I know so many people who have been there and gone through this today or last week and we all know how common it is.

“I still think it’s kind of unsaid. And to be honest, I don’t even know if I'd have said it if I wasn’t lucky enough to be pregnant again now. We don’t want to show vulnerability and I personally don’t want to feel sad. But then I know how felt at the time and I just wanted someone else to say, ‘That happened to me.’ You want to be able to relate to someone.”

The fashion entrepreneur got emotional on her Instagram stories as she said she wanted to do her part to help destigmatise miscarriage as it’s too easy to look at images on Instagram and assume that everyone just has a perfect life.

“I can guarantee that everyone’s been through something along the way,” she said.

“I said it to a few people close to me and it made me feel so much better to hear them say, ‘That happened to me as well.’ After that, I had to have a D and C and I was waiting and I was on my phone and Googling things and trying to get my head around it - a missed miscarriage - and nothing that anyone can say can make it feel better.

“’I know that that’s s**t and I’m really sorry’ and that’s all you want to hear. I can only imagine what it feels like to go through that multiple times. It’s so unfair and it’s heartbreaking.”

She said that while other couples are now talking more openly about pregnancy loss, there is still a way to go and there is “definitely still a stigma.”

When she was told the sad news, she said that she leapt out of bed and was “nearly embarrassed” and didn’t know why.

The Kildare influencer went public with news of her most recent pregnancy on Sunday and was inundated with message of well-wishes.

She said that she and husband Brian had been trying for another baby for a number of years.

“We love babies and always knew we wanted another baby but it never happened after Louis so we were at peace with that. I'm so happy with that we have and grateful; I didn’t want to be always wishing for another.

"But we always said if it happened, amazing. And it didn’t happen for so long after Louis, we thought, ‘That’s OK; we’re fine with that,” she said.

She recently told her two boys about the pregnancy and she said there’s huge excitement in their house as they speculate on whether it will be a boy or a girl and she said they were “ecstatic” when they found out.
