Nicola Coughlan has shared a photo with her Bridgerton co-star Claudia Jessie to celebrate their Emmy nominations.

The 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony took place over the weekend at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles, and Bridgerton managed to scoop up a whopping twelve nominations.

Unfortunately, the Netflix period drama lost out to The Crown for the Outstanding Drama, Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, and Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series Awards, but the show’s stylists managed to bag an Emmy for Outstanding Period and/or Character Hairstyling on the night.

The cast was also notably absent from the awards show – except for Regé-Jean Page, who was nominated for the Lead Actor award for his breakout role – as they were busy filming the second season of Bridgerton in the UK.

But Nicola Coughlan, who plays fan favourite socialite Penelope Featherington in the steamy series, decided to mark the occasion over on her Instagram page with a sweet tribute post.

Posing for a photo with her co-star Claudia Jessie, who stars as Eloise Bridgerton, the Galway native wrote: “Happy Bridgerton Emmys Day!

“So proud to be part of this show and to have 12 nominations is truly beyond our wildest dreams.

“So lucky to share this experience with this brilliant girl who is so kind and supportive and hilarious and also sometimes stalks my social media, I love you Clauds!!”

Speaking about receiving Emmy nominations for the Shondaland drama ahead of the awards show, Nicola told Entertainment Tonight: “It was amazing! It was so exciting.

“It's the biggest awards in television so to be recognized by them is phenomenal. We were all super excited. We [are] in the middle of filming season two right now, so the new season two group chat was going off.

“It's such an exciting thing when you do a show that anyone watches and connects to. But the level at which people connected to Bridgerton and the scale is really mind-blowing.”
