Nadine Coyle has revealed that fans still throw passports at her 20 years after her iconic appearance on Popstars.

The 36-year-old appeared on the talent show in 2001 - but lied about her age before pretending she lost her passport.

Fans won’t let her live down the moment it seems, as the Derry born star revealed she still gets slagged off about it.

“I did a show in Belfast last week, and you know the way people throw stuff on stage, I’ve been thrown an actual passport,” she told Metro.

“Their actual passport! And you’re looking at it going ‘This is someone’s actual passport’, not a pretend one, not one that they’ve made for the night.”

“But they thought it was a good idea, in that moment, to hand their real passport to me on stage,” she explained.

“I just thought, ‘you might need this’.”

The hilarious ploy played out in front of cameras after Nadine sat down to do an interview for the show after winning herself a spot in a new group ‘Six’.

In the clip, which was filmed when Nadine was 16, the teenager smiles at the camera and proudly declares that her date of birth is June 15th, 1985, “making me a Gemini,” she added before she gasps: “What date of birth did I say?”

What follows is a chaotic ploy where Nadine is questioned by a producer about her date of birth.

“I gave you the wrong date of birth,” she told her.

“I said ‘87 or something,” she laughed, mixing up her years even more.

“No, you said ‘85, which would mean you wouldn’t be 18.”

“Which would make me 16, yeah I gave you the wrong date of birth,” Nadine replied.

Nadine is then asked if she has her passport with her, to which she says “I should have it with me,” before she proceeds to continue her act by searching through her belongings for her official documents before eventually calling her mother to say she can’t find it.

“Mommy, did you give me my passport? ‘Cos yesterday I was getting an interview done and I gave the wrong date of birth… so I’m just looking for my passport.”

“I thought I said ‘87 but she said I said ‘85,” she said.

Linda Martin-then sits with Nadine to discuss the discrepancy.

“You’ll break my heart if I have to lose you, and that's stupid me saying ‘if I have to lose you’ but that's the way I feel now,” Linda tells Nadine as she cries.

Nadine reveals that her parents are at home looking for the passport, and will bring it down to her at the studio.

“If you were 16 surely you’d still be at school,” Linda remarks, to which Nadine agrees.

“If you were trying to make out that you're 18, would you tell me at this stage?” Linda continues, with Nadine nodding in agreement that she would be honest with her.

While cameras weren’t rolling, Nadine broke down and revealed to Linda that her date of birth was in fact 15th of June 1985, making her 16-years old.

She then admits to the rest of her new band that she isn’t old enough to be in the competition.

Despite not getting to continue on in the competition, Nadine went on to compete on the UK version of the show Popstars: The Rivals where she joined Girls Aloud and ultimately enjoyed a successful career as a singer.
