Grainne Seoige will present the virtual event this Sunday

Mark Hamill, Colin Farrell, Olivia Colman and Josh Brolin are among the big-name lineup of guests taking part in this year’s IFTA Awards. 

The A-listers are among several guests presenting awards at the IFTA Film and Drama Awards, which are taking place virtually this weekend.

Grainne Seoige is presenting the awards which will be televised by Virgin Media One at 10pm this Sunday (July 4).

Oscar winner and The Crown star Olivia Colman will present the Best Actor in a Lead Role Film award. The actress is currently in Co Kerry filming her latest movie, Joyride. Marvel villain Thanos AKA actor Josh Brolin will be announcing the winner of the Best Film Award. Top Irish actor Colin Farrell will present Best Director: Film, while much-loved Star Wars icon Mark Hamill is set to present the hotly contested Screen Ireland IFTA Rising Star award. Irish actress Orla Brady, fresh from her scene-stealing turn as fan-favourite Laris in Star Trek: Picard, will be on hand to announce The Best Actor in a Lead Role Drama. Australian leading man Travis Fimmel will present the award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role Drama.

Others poised to present an award on Sunday night’s show include Bob Geldof, Tom Vaughan-Lawlor and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D star Jason O’Mara.

“We’re delighted to bring together such an illustrious group of Irish and International screen talent to celebrate the ongoing growth and success of our industry in Ireland,” said CEO of the Irish Film & Television Academy Áine Moriarty of this year’s show.

Jessie Buckley, Aisling Franciosi, Niamh Algar and Brendan Gleeson are among the stars shortlisted for this year’s IFTA Awards.

The late Nika McGuigan - daughter of boxing legend Barry - who starred in Wildfire before tragically dying of cancer in 2019, has been nominated for her work in that film. Normal People tops the nominees list with 15 nods across all the major categories.
