It's A Fair Cop Line of Duty Adrian Dunbar star celebrates IFTA win
LINE of Duty star Adrian Dunbar took a break from hunting bent coppers to collect a first IFTA for award winning series Blood.
The Enniskillen actor, who is currently filming the latest series of the cult cop drama, took time out of his busy schedule to collect an IFTA for the hit Irish drama Blood.
Over two season’s Blood followed the tragic fortunes of Dr Jim Hogan, a controversial patriarch who was sent to prison for assisting in the suicide of his wife.
The series was such a success for the Irish commercial broadcaster, it was bought up by Channel 5 in the UK as well as Hulu and Acorn in America.
Blood, the Virgin Media Television thriller, lead the TV Drama nods with 5 IFTA nominations and had already won a Writers’ Guild of Great Britain Award and enjoyed great international success.
And last night, Blood season two, was rewarded for its incredible cast and script when it was awarded the IFTA for Best Irish Drama.
And speaking on location from the Line of Duty set in Belfast, Dunbar, who plays Hastings in the cult drama, thanked the cast and crew for the prestigious award.
“This is due recognition for the wonderful team brought together to make Blood. I’m delighted for my fellow actors and crew, all of whom brought their creativity to the project.”
Last night Virgin Media also picked up an award for Best Film 2019 for the VMTV backed ‘Black ‘47’, a revenge thriller set against the backdrop of the Great Irish Famine.
Speaking about the award Bill Malone, Director of Content, Virgin Media Television said:
“The IFTAs were a real showcase of exceptional Irish creative talent in Film and TV production across the globe and one we can all be very proud of.
“To pick up top awards in both Best Drama and Best Film categories is a testament to VMTV’s strategy of supporting and developing the Irish creative sector with high quality productions with international ambition.”
