Limerick hurling captain Declan Hannon has proposed to his longtime girlfriend Louise Cantillon.

The All-Star hurler popped the question on Monday December 27th during a romantic morning walk on Chom Dhíneol beach.

“Extra sparkly sunrise ar Chom Dhíneol ar maidin…” Louise captioned a post on Instagram.

The post showed snaps of the pair kissing, as well as a short video of the waves crashing against the Dingle Peninsula.

Another image showed off her gorgeous engagement ring; a stunning gold band adorned with a diamond.

The Adare native chose West Kerry as the spot for their engagement as the area is special to his future wife.

The 28-year-olds parents are both from The Kingdom and she spent childhood summers there with her three siblings.

Declan and Louise met as teenagers while attending secondary school in Limerick.

They moved in together in March 2017 and plan to build their own home together in the future.

Congratulations for the pair flooded their social media.

Una Healy wrote: “Congratulations Louise!” with Influencer Louise Cooney adding: “Congrats guys.”

Wife of All Star Kilkenny hurler TJ Reid, Niamh de Brun, also offered her congratulations, as did Olympian Irish hockey player Roisin Upton, and Gemma Cowen, girlfriend of Limerick hurler William O'Donoghue.
