Filming began in March and is expected to finish in June.
A call was put out by the company behind the film appealing for locals to take part as extras.
Directors specified that they were looking for long-haired people to play the part of GAA players.
The film has brought an unexpected financial boost to the area ahead of the summer tourism season with many of the cast and crew staying in local accommodation.
Many including Neeson have been pictured mixing with locals and even dropping into various pubs and restaurants.
