Twitter users are “delighted” for Olympic boxer Kellie Harrington after she wed her longtime love Mandy Loughlin on Friday.

In photos and videos shared to Instagram, the couple looked overjoyed as they cut into their wedding cake and danced with family and friends at their reception in The Old Spot in Dublin 4.

They both wore stunning white dresses with Kellie opting to wear a pair of trousers underneath her gown.

A host of people took to Twitter over the weekend to congratulate Kellie and Mandy and wished them “many happy years together.”

Sharing a photo of the newlyweds cutting their cake, which was decorated with roses and a cake topper reading ‘Amanda and Kellie’, one person wrote: “Isn't this just a beautiful and uplifting picture? Kellie Harrington on her wedding day. Gorgeous.”

Another said: “What a wonderful photo! When I was growing up, this option wasn’t open to any gay woman (or man) I knew. Actually, I rarely even know they were gay. Most hid their sexuality. Let’s never allow Ireland to regress back to those horrible dark days.”

A third chimed in: “Huge congratulations to @Kelly64kg and Mandy on their beautiful wedding. May your hands be forever clasped in friendship and your love always last.”

While another said: “Delighted for Kellie Harrington and Mandy on their wedding day. Congratulations!!!”

Tony Walsh, founder and CEO of the Save Our Homeless charity in Dublin, also congratulated the couple, writing: “The management here at Feed Our Homeless would like to say a huge congratulations to Kellie Harrington who just got married to her longtime girlfriend Mandy Loughlin. We hope you guys have many happy years together.”

Kellie and Mandy have been together since 2009 after meeting at a boxing club in Bray 13 years ago.

Kellie revealed back in January that the pair were preparing for their wedding day.

Taking to Instagram at the time, she said: “Wedding planning for a wedding that is 3 months away is definitely STRESSFUL.

“No venue, Not a stitch of clothes. Not knowing who to invite or where to bloody start. When people said planning a wedding is stressful I never believed it till now.”
