Fair City star Ryan Andrews has shared an update as he is climbing Mount Everest.

The actor travelled to Nepal last weekend ahead of the brave climb.

“Arriving in Nepal after 2 delayed flights & experiencing the busy streets of Kathmandu was surreal,” he shared on his first day.

“The Nepalese people are extremely welcoming & this city is like nothing I've ever witnessed before! Today was a full day to get organised, travel around, get extra gear if needed & most importantly plan/pack for tomorrow - Kathmandu to Lukla (worlds #1 most dangerous airport) to officially start the journey to Base Camp.”

Taking to Instagram he gave fans an update on his journey.

The 29-year-old is now 5000m into the trek, with almost 4000m to go.

“We travelled all the way to Demboche, a really nice treck, probably the most enjoyable day so far!

“Shortly after arriving we got ourselves coffee/cake which definitely brought all the spirits up! The we dropped our bags & headed for another hike - Trek High, Sleep Low!”

“In order to get more acclimatised we headed up to 5,000m & stayed there for a short while, taking in AmmaDabblam 6,812m behind all around us before heading back down to 4,410m,” he said.

“We have a "Rest Day" tomorrow, but this rest day will consist of a 10hr trek to 'Island Peak Base Camp’. I'm not used to these kind of rest days!,” he added.

In October 2021, Andrews was one of the final four contestants on RTE show Ultimate Hell Week.

He took part in gruelling challenges alongside 17 other celebrities in a bid to raise funds for their chosen charity.
