Fair City actor Maclean Burke has said that his girlfriend “gets on great” with his ex wife.

The 42-year-old began dating HSE worker Cat Nolan in 2019 after he split from wife Ashleen Darbey.

Speaking to RSVP, the star opened up about his blended family as father to four of his own kids, while Cat has three children.

"There has never been an issue with my older kids and her older kids as well."

"She is that mammy figure, but not stepping on their mum's feet. Cat and my ex get on great and they both respect each other,” he said.

"They can see how this relationship works for both of them. Her lads are the same and they are similar in age to my eldest kids."

Opening up about his relationship with his partner’s kids he said: “Cat’s kids are all boys and they’re all alpha males and they see this dude coming in the door.”

"But they could see I’m busy working, raising my kids and I’m not fly-by-night. Certainly after two and a half years I’m part of the furniture,” he added.

Discussing how he met Cat, Maclean previously told Sunday World: "I met Cat through a mutual friend when I was by no means ready to be out dating or doing anything.”

"My buddy was like, 'Look, this one is a bit of fun, see what happens.' I went on a date and the rest just kind of took care of itself. We're now been together two and a half years.”

"We have so much in common. Thankfully I met Cat when I was in the throes of depression with the failed marriage.”

"This little lady came along and picked me up and got me going and refocused my mind. There's two of us in it now and we're enjoying life and moving forward in our 40s."
