SIOBHÁN McSweeney – known to one and all as the Cork actor who stars as Sister Michael in the hit comedy, Derry Girls – is this week tweeting from her hospital bed after an accident in which she broke her leg.

Aherla born and raised and with strong links to the Múscraí Gaeltacht, Siobhán had been playing one of the leading roles in the production of an adaptation for TV of Graham Norton’s novel, Holding, which had been filming in west Cork.

“I’m grand. I’m getting the best of care from the extraordinary nurses and doctors here,” she said in a tweet on Wednesday.

“#Holding production have been extraordinary in allowing me to recover and I’m excited to return to set.”

She plays a ‘messy character’, Bríd O’Riordan, in Holding.

In the meantime, she can be seen visiting Fermanagh’s Lake District on Thursday when she is ‘Exploring Northern Ireland’ on Channel 4.
