Daniel O’Donnell tells how he was moved to sing at Andrew McGinley's charity show
'I haven’t met Andrew yet, but listening to him on Highland Radio I just thought he was such a lovely man and I was trying to figure out how he was coping'
Doting Dad Andrew McGinley with his children Conor (9), Darragh (7) and Carla (3)
Daniel O’Donnell told yesterday how he was deeply moved by an interview with Andrew McGinley on his local Donegal radio station, Highland Radio.
Andrew is a native of Donegal town where the local Four Masters GAA Club planted three oak trees in August in memory of his three children.
“My heart went out to Andrew and the whole family and everybody involved when I heard about the tragedy,” Daniel tells the Sunday World.

“It’s just inconceivable what Andrew must be going through. Now that I have grandchildren, I couldn’t imagine life without them.
“I haven’t met Andrew yet, but listening to him on Highland Radio I just thought he was such a lovely man and I was trying to figure out how he was coping.
“I’m amazed in general at people that face huge tragedy and somewhere they seem to get the strength to do the most incredible things because of it.”
Daniel says that when he was asked to perform the very first concert for Andrew’s charity, As Darragh Did, he accepted without hesitation.

“From my point of view, I’m very happy to do something if it does anything to help Andrew get through this. It’s little for me to do.”
Andrew McGinley said he was “delighted” to have Daniel performing a full concert at Newcastle Community Centre, Co. Dublin, on June 2 next year. “You couldn’t get a bigger star in the whole of Ireland,” he says.
Tickets for Daniel’s concert can be won through a raffle and the prize includes overnight accommodation at the Louis Fitzgerald Hotel, transport to and from the concert by Dualway Coaches, and food by celebrity chef Derry Clarke and Sodexo.
