Rumours have been swirling that the couple were in Gort over the festive season while spending time at the luxury Lough Cutra Castle.
It has been reported that they spent up to four nights at the 600-acre estate.
Located on the outskirts of Gort the castle overlooks a 1,000 acre lake, surrounded by luscious green gardens.
A spokesperson for Lough Cutra Castle did not confirm or deny that the couple stayed at the castle, simply saying in a statement: “One of the reasons people come here is because of our discretion.”
The exclusive residence has welcomed a whole host of famous faces over the years, including President Michael D. Higgins, Prince Charles and his wife Camilla.
Hallmark Christmas film Christmas at Castle Hart, starring Irish actor Stuart Townsend and Mean Girls star Lacey Chabert was also filmed at the Galway castle.
Courteney and Johnny were introduced to each other back in 2013 by their mutual friend Ed Sheeran. They got engaged in 2014 but split one year later before rekindling their romance.
It was previously rumoured that the pair were set to wed in Johnny’s hometown of Derry over the festive period after being forced apart for nine months during the pandemic.
An insider revealed to Closer magazine: “Courteney and Johnny’s stint apart was a huge wake-up call and they agreed to marry as soon as the Covid restrictions eased so they could celebrate with all their loved ones.”
"They’re planning an intimate winter wedding in Johnny’s hometown of Derry, Northern Ireland in December at a local church, followed by a big party at a romantic castle nearby set in 1,000 acres of private land.”
The source also claimed that Courteney has asked her longtime friend Jennifer Aniston to be her joint maid of honour with her daughter Coco (17), who she had with her first husband David Arquette.
The insider continued: “Courteney asked Jen and her daughter Coco to be joint maid of honour, and she can’t wait to finally become Mrs McDaid and make things official.”
The pair celebrated their 8-year anniversary in September, with Courtney posting two photos of the couple to her Instagram account to mark the occasion.
The first photo showed the happy couple during a fun night out, while the second showed Johnny and Courteney retiring to bed after a long evening.
Captioning the post, the 57-year-old actor said: “8 years later…I asked him to come up with a caption and he fell asleep. Still got it.
“Happy Anniversary xoxo,” she added.
