Colin Farrell has officially signed on to star in and executive produce a series spinoff of ‘The Batman’ in which he will play the notorious villain The Penguin as he rises to power in the Gotham criminal underworld.
Due to be released on March 4, 2022, and starring Robert Pattinson, the series will focus on The Penguin (Oswald Cobblepot), described as one of the most famous members of the Batman Rogues Gallery.
In his iconic top hat, monocle, and wide variety of deadly umbrellas, the character has previously been played by Burgess Meredith opposite Adam West on ABC’s Batman (1966–1968).
Danny DeVito brought him to the big screen in Batman Returns (1992), and Robin Lord Taylor put a fresh spin on the character for Fox’s Gotham (2014–2019).
Lauren LeFranc is attached to write the script for the series while ‘The Batman’ director Matt Reeves and the film’s producer Dylan Clark will executive produce the Penguin series alongside Farrell.
