Ben Foden says he 'pays the price' for cheating on Una Healy by getting online hate

The former England rugby star split from the Irish singer after 6 years of marriage in 2018 amid rumours that he had been unfaithful.

The pair share two children together: Aoife (10) and Tadhg (7) but Ben has since remarried Jackie Belanoff Smith, with whom he shares 1-year-old daughter Farrah.

But the 36-year-old said that he doesn’t mind getting hate online as long as he has the support of his loved ones.

“We live in a time where everyone is very accessible and everyone is critiquing,” he told RSVP Live.

“No one knows the ins and outs of my business but people get hot headed and make rash calls.

“If someone comments on my photos, they are entitled to their opinion. As long as my loved ones and those I am close to have my back, that is all that matters.

“I have made mistakes in the past, we all have, and I pay the price with getting hate and being trolled sometimes.

“Time is a healer and the more we live life, the more our mistakes will be forgiven.”

Ben said that he hates when his family try to protect him online because he believes in fighting his own battles.

"I live my life and I am not interested in what people post underneath my pictures. I post pictures for me and the people around me that support me.

"If people want to write nasty comments under them, that is their prerogative, not mine.

"The only time I do get annoyed is when Jackie, my mum or my brother jump in and try to defend me.

"I feel sorry for the people close to me because I have put them in a situation where they feel the need to protect me.

"Whereas, I don’t need protection, I am fine. I have no qualms with people writing their opinions about me."

The father-of-three added that he has no problem calling out nasty trolls and “educating” them.

"If there is a comment that doesn’t sit well with me, whether it is a personal comment or one attacking my kids, I will call the person out and talk to them.

"I have had a lot of conversations with people over the years who have shown hate to me and they retracted what they said or deleted their comment. It is all about educating people and I want to be a person who is positive."
