Barry Keoghan has revealed that he told his Eternals’ co-star Angelina Jolie that she reminds him of his grandmother.
The Irish actor plays Marvel superhero Druig in the new film alongside Jolie, Richard Madden, Kit Harington, Salma Hayek and Gemma Chan.
Speaking on The Six O’Clock Show, the 29-year-old recalled the time he told the A-List actress that she reminded him of his granny, Patricia.
“I think I meant maternal. Her and Salma on set were very, very maternal,” he laughed.
“She had that feel and looked after everyone.”
The Dubliner joked that he felt it was “so weird” to compare his 87-year-old grandmother to the Hollywood star who was once named the “sexiest woman alive.”

“He’s wonderful, he’s really wonderful. We worked together on Eternals and he is so talented. You know, he’s unique and that’s a fun thing to see these days,” she told Martin King.
“When you meet certain people… there’s a lot of people who can do good work but when strong, unique personalities come forward and they have their own, something that you haven’t seen before. It’s really exciting, it’s fun to see.”
“I think highly of him,” she added.
Barry stars in the latest Marvel blockbuster as an Irish superhero, Druig. The film follows a group of heroes called the Eternals. Druig, who is a loner at heart, has the ability to manipulate the minds of other people.
"I wanted to be a superhero,” he said of the role.
“I'm a massive fan of Marvel movies and I'm a big believer of attraction and putting energy out there and manifesting."
The character of Druig was originally Russian, however the film’s director Chloe Zhao decided to make the character Irish.
"Chloe chose to play him Irish and I think she wanted it as close as it can be to the real thing. I'm glad to play him Irish. It's kinda like the first Irish superhero,” he added.
Harry Styles features in the film playing the role of Eros.
Barry stepped out at the Irish premier of the film earlier this week alongside his new girlfriend Alyson Sandro. The pair looked smitten with one another as they posed for the paparazzi.

His former neighbour Kellie Harrington also showed up at the event and posed with a delighted Keoghan who said that he admired her. “I love Kellie,” he told Radio Nova. “She’s done a great job for the area, I have a lot of admiration for her really. Honestly she’s deadly.”
The pair posed up a storm on the blue carpet with Barry and Kellie in boxing stances, fake punching one another. Kellie brought home gold in lightweight boxing from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics which were held in Japan earlier this year.
Eternals is in cinemas now.
