IRISH actor Barry Keoghan mysteriously last night missed the Hollywood premiere of his biggest movie role to date, the new Marvel's movie Eternals.

In what would have been the one of the high points of his career, the Dubliner missed out on rubbing shoulders with a galaxy of star-studded fellow cast members such as Angelina Jolie, Kit Harrington, Salma Hayek and Richard Madden.

Other stars who feature in the flick and who graced the red carpet for the world premiere in Los Angeles last night included Gemma Chan, Brian Tyree Henry, Don Lee, Richard Madden, Lia McHugh, Kumail Nanjiani, and Lauren Ridloff.

Also present were director/screenwriter Chloé Zhao, producers Kevin Feige and Nate Moore, executive producers Louis D’Esposito and Victoria Alonso, and screenwriters Ryan Firpo, Kaz Firpo and Patrick Burleigh.

Eternals welcomes a new team of superheroes to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The epic story, starting at the beginning of civilisation and spanning thousands of years, features a group of immortal heroes forced out of the shadows to reunite against mankind’s oldest enemy, The Deviants.

Keoghan plays a character called Druig in the upcoming superhero movie, for which he is getting an estimated €2 million and which will be released on November 5.

It is still unclear why the 29-year-old missed out on joining his fellow Eternals cast members last night.

He was in London three days ago, according to his social media footage, training in a boxing gym (he owns a pad in the English capital).

Barry is also currently filming The Banshees of Inisherin, a Martin McDonagh directed flick about a pair of lifelong friends on a remote Irish island who find themselves at an awkward time in their relationship when one of them no longer wants to be friends.

Shooting has been taking place recently in Achill, Co Mayo, and starring alongside him are Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson. It has still to wrap up.

It’s perhaps because he’s still involved in that movie that he did not fly to last night’s world premiere of Eternals. Yesterday was also his 29th birthday.

In August the Sunday World exclusively revealed how Barry was the victim of a vicious assault in Galway and had to receive hospital treatment after being found battered and bruised near the G hotel.
