An actor who starred in the 1997 film Titanic has revealed that he still receives royalties for the role of ‘Little Irish boy’ that he played in the movie.

30-year-old Reece Thompson starred in the hit movie when he was just five-years-old.

He played ‘little Irish boy’ a third-class passenger who died alongside his mother when the ship hit an iceberg.

In a scene from the film, the boy and his family were among many passengers waiting for the third-class gates for the ship to open.

Another scene showed how the family tragically died in their cabin aboard the ship as they did not make it onto a lifeboat to get to safety.

Speaking to Insider about his role in the movie he said he doesn’t think about royalty checks coming, but it does excite him that they still show up years later.

“It's not like, ‘Oh, when am I going to get a new 'Titanic' check?'”

“When it happens, it's like, 'Oh, cool, an extra $100.”

“There have been a couple of times where it's been like: ‘Oh, wow, that's a $250 check." This movie's 12 years old. That's pretty bizarre. But hopefully, they keep playing it a lot because that means more money for me.”

“My mom was like ‘Let's just do it. It'll be cool. Even if the movie sucks, we'll see it.’”

“Obviously, it ended up exploding, so that wasn't a bad decision on her part, that's for sure,” he said

Discussing his Irish accent in the film he said he “doesn’t sound very Irish.”

“It just sounds soft-spoken. I remember trying to mimic what the speech coach was trying to do. That's as close as I got."

Reece, who lives in Utah, currently works as a digital marketing director for a skiing and snowboarding resort.
