Model Thalia Heffernan was followed by a fan after getting off a bus

Dublin model Thalia Heffernan has revealed that she was once followed off the bus during her early years starting out as a model. The Ranelagh beauty said she used to be frequently stopped to have her photo taken, and described one incident in which her pursuer went a bit further. “A student from UCD followed me off the bus, into my mate’s estate and was like ‘I’d love to take your picture’,” she said. “At the time I was like: ‘now this is kind of weird’, but now I’m like: ‘that’s really weird.” “The movies can romanticise situations a lot more than they should be.” Upon reflection, Thalia now views these experiences differently, saying most of the time she was stopped to or from her way to school, while she still had her uniform on. Heffernan first got her start in the modeling business at the age of 15, and said that the industry has since changed for the better in many respects. “Modelling now is so diverse,” she said. “There’s every kind of person, from religion, to skin colour, to age.” Even the stereotype that all models have to be tall is no longer as relevant. “Height doesn’t matter as much as it used to,” she said. “There’s a lot of people who are renowned models nowadays who aren’t over 5’9… like Cara Delevingne is only like 5’ 8”.” Thalia was speaking during an Instagram live interview with Aimee Connolly who owns Irish makeup brand Sculpted by Aimee. Thalia (25) also revealed she moved to Northern Ireland earlier this year and is living in Lurgan, Co Armagh - the hometown of her boyfriend, dancer Ryan McShane. The couple have been enjoying “the country life” with their two dogs, Charlie and Leonard. This time last year, the pair were taking part in Dancing with the Stars Live in Killarney, and managed to win one of the shows. Heffernan described how her boyfriend was a strict teacher. “I’m also a terrible student - so I have to take responsibility in that respect too,” she said. “Like I watch back videos for practice and I’m like ‘oh my god, you’re awful’.” “They always say never ask your boyfriend to teach you something... but you know what we’re still together now so something must have gone right.” Thalia went on to discuss how everyone in the modelling industry has continued to be safe and clean with how they operate - particularly makeup artists. However, she went on to say that unfortunately not every artist takes care of their work station as they should. “Not every makeup artist is as professional as they seem,” she said. “People will have dirty brushes, or dirty hands.” “I’ve heard stories of people spitting in products to moisten them... it’s a thing that happens.”
