Conor McGregor and Machine Gun Kelly got into a row in front of photographers at the VMAs.

We all love a good spat and all the better when it happens on the red carpet.

And Conor McGregor and rapper Machine Gun Kelly were happy to oblige at the VMAs.

The two were at the Barclays Centre in New York last Sunday, with Kelly set to perform with Travis Barker, while the Dubliner was presenting the Artist of the Year award, which went to his good friend Justin Bieber.

While McGregor swanned along the red carpet with his fiancée Dee Devlin, Kelly was the centre of attention as he was arm-in-arm with his girlfriend Megan Fox.

Tempers flared when McGregor was refused a photo opportunity with the singer and rapper by Kelly's team, which led him to allegedly swing his cane in Kelly's direction.

He was then shown throwing the contents of a beer canister in Kelly's direction and branded him a "little vanilla boy rapper".

What makes this incident all the more bizarre is that Kelly is a fan of McGregor's and has attended some of his fights.

Kelly's close pal Jake Paul now also claims that McGregor may have mistook Kelly for the YouTube star, as the pair have been involved in an online Twitter spat and both Kelly and Paul are tall, skinny and blonde.

A representative for McGregor tried to play down the incident afterwards, when she stressed "Conor only fights fighters."

That will come as news to the likes of Dublin pubgoer Des Keogh, who was minding his own business in the Marble Arch bar when McGregor punched him in the head for refusing a shot of his whiskey, for which the MMA star got a E1,000 fine.

Let's have a look at some other run-ins involving famous faces.

Solange and Jay were joined in the elevator by Solange's sister Beyoncé and the couple's bodyguard, who had to physically restrain Solange at multiple points during the lift ride.

Numerous theories emerged as to why Solange lashed out, including that Jay Z had- cheated on Beyoncé, but he subsequently tried to pour cold water over the incident.

"We've always had a great relationship," he said. "We've had one disagreement. Before and after, we've been cool. That's my sister. Not my sister-in-law, no, my sister. Period."

CHRIS BROWN v RIHANNA

In 2009 Chris Brown and Rihanna were one of the hottest couples in the world.

But it emerged that Brown had a violent relationship with Rihanna, which culminated in him punching her.

The Barbados-born singer was pictured bruised and with a split lip after Brown attacked her in his car.

Brown later confessed that Rihanna had been kicking and hitting him during an argument about another woman before he "really hit her" and bit her arm.

He received five years' probation and a community service order for the assault, for which he said he felt like a "monster" and the fight would "haunt me forever".

JEREMY CLARKSON v PIERS MORGAN

Jeremy Clarkson became increasingly annoyed about being a target of Piers Morgan's ire. Clarkson had warned of his plan to confront Morgan on a London to New York flight in 2003, saying he hoped to sit next to him and the situation heated up after some banter.

The following year at the British Press Awards in London it became physical.

Morgan claimed that Clarkson punched him three times in the head and permanently scarred him because of a ring he was wearing.

But the pair made a truce after a five-hour drinking session in a pub in the summer of 2014.

Last year Morgan went on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, which was hosted by Clarkson, and won just £1000 for charity.

PRINCE v SINEAD O'CONNOR

Oh to have been a fly on the wall during a confrontation between Prince and Sinead O'Connor at the now deceased musician's home in 1991.

Sinead had become famous with her cover of Prince's Nothing Compares 2U and she jumped at the chance to visit his mansion when he invited her along.

Sinead recalls how he then suggested they have a pillow fight so he could hit her with something hard he had already filled in the pillowcase.

She alleges Prince even punched her and all she could do was spit on him and protect herself from his blows.

The Dubliner maintains she escaped the house in the middle of the night after which Prince followed her and chased her in a car on the highway.

SHANE LYNCH v P DIDDY

Boyzone star Shane Lynch had already ruffled feathers with an expletive laden speech at the MTV awards in Dublin in 1999.

And at an after-show party in the Temple club in the capital he got into a fight with P Diddy - then known as Puff Daddy, aka Sean Combs.

"I was drunk," recalls Shane. "We were in the green room. His entourage said he wanted it for himself, and I wasn't having any of that."

At the time, Shane claimed that Diddy had been pointing a bottle of champagne at him and began pouring the drink towards him in an antagonising manner which prompted him to throw a punch.

SHIA LABEOUF v TOM HARDY

Shia LaBeouf is a notorious hothead and his bar brawls are infamous.

He also managed to lose his temper on set and an altercation between him and Tom Hardy took place in 2012 during the filming of Lawless.

While Hardy is known for tough guy roles it comes as a surprise that LaBeouf claims he knocked out the Englishman with one punch, although other claims the fight was broken up before it became too serious.

JARED LETO v ELIJAH WOOD

Both stars attended the 2006 MTVU Woodie Awards, with Leto nominated for his band 30 Seconds To Mars.

Wood had said some negative things about Leto's band to a magazine in 2003, but being a patient and vengeful Joker, Leto waited a while to make his attack three years later when he saw Wood.

At the awards he roughly grabbed him and confronted him about his comments.
