Shane McGowan’s partner Victoria Mary Clarke has posted a message on her Instagram page in support of the couple’s close friend Johnny Depp.

The Hollywood star is currently engaged in a $50m defamation trial, which he brought against his ex-wife Amber Heard over an op-ed she wrote in 2018 for The Washington Post.

Heard has filed a countersuit accusing him of allegedly orchestrating a “smear campaign” against her and describing his own lawsuit as a continuation of “abuse and harassment.”

Clark, who along with her Pogues legend frontman have spent many social occasions with the Pirates of the Caribbean star, posted a picture of Depp alongside Gina Deuters and the message, ‘sending so much love to Gina @girldeuters today!!!' And the hashtag #johnnydeppisinnocent.

Deuters, who is herself a close friend of the actor’s, gave testimony on Thursday at the Fairfax County Courthouse in Virginia.

She answered questions about Depp’s drugs and alcohol use, telling the court she had seen him use weed and cocaine occasionally, and that she had seen him drink alcohol. Deuters testified that she had never seen Depp be violent or angry after using any substances or drinking alcohol.

However, at one point during her testimony, Heard’s legal team asked for permission to approach Judge Penney Azcarate. The judge conferred with the attorneys, then sent the jury out for a brief recess.

Judge Azcarate then asked Deuters: “Have you been watching the trial this past week?

Deuters replied: “I’ve seen clips of it online, yes."

The judge then confirmed that Deuters had watched clips of witness testimony, after which she told Deuters she was excused.

Deuters then had to leave the court, and Judge Azcarate said she would instruct the jury to strike Deuters’s testimony.

The trial started on Monday (April 11) with jury selection and is expected to last a total of six weeks.

Gina and her husband Stephen Deuters have largely worked behind the scenes with Depp to help keep his career running smoothly. Stephen has worked for Johnny for over 17 years and has been described as his "former right-hand man".

Gina, who frequently posts about the actor and his career happenings on her own Instagram, and Stephen, have appeared alongside Depp at the likes of the 68th San Sebastian International Film Festival and the 16th Zurich Film Festival, both of which were held in 2020.

In February on this year, Depp was a guest at a celebration marking MacGowan’s new documentary 'A Crock of Gold: A Few Rounds with Shane McGowan' in the Light House Cinema in Smithfield.

The film, made by Julien Temple, dives into the life of MacGowan, best known as the lead singer and songwriter of the Pogues, who famously combined traditional Irish music with the energy of punk rock.

The documentary features unseen archival footage from the band and his family.

Depp, former Sinn Fein leader Gerry Adams, and Bono all feature in the documentary.

A series of pictures shared by Victoria show her posing with various guests, including their close friend Depp.
