The 10 best celeb insults after Rebekah Vardy compared Coleen Rooney to pigeon

Rebekah Vardy isn't the only celebrity to see a bitchy spat go embarrassingly public

It's been the high-profile court case that keeps on giving - and regardless of the outcome, Rebekah Vardy must surely be rueing the texts she sent her agent about libel rival Colleen Rooney.

Vardy's true feelings about her fellow WAG were revealed in mortifying detail at her libel trial against Rooney as the two women locked horns in court.

Described as 'evil' by Rooney, who famously turned Wagatha Christie in a bid to discover who was leaking stories about her to the press, Vardy's remarks about her ranged from "attention seeking" to "a nasty [four-letter expletive]".

But it was her comparison of Rooney to a pooing pigeon that is likely to be remembered for its sheer bitchiness. In the text to her agent, she claimed that arguing with Rooney "would be like arguing with a pigeon. You can tell it it's right and you're wrong but it's still going to shit in your hair."

It was the ultimate celebrity put-down, but other stars have memorably aired their spats in public with barbed and bitchy comments about their fiercest rivals.

Roseanne Barr

Roseanne Barr and her ex-husband Tom Arnold had a notoriously rocky marriage break-up which resulted in many public spats. In an interview about their relationship following their divorce, Roseanne took a swipe at her ex.

"We were trying to get pregnant, but I forgot one of us had to have a penis", she said, before going on to man-shame him on Saturday Night Live.

Paris Hilton

Kim Kardashian is known for her put downs and throwing shade at her enemies, but when she fell out with former party pal Paris Hilton, she found herself on the receiving end of a very public insult. "I would not want [Kim's bottom]. It's gross!… It reminds me of cottage cheese inside a big trash bag," Hilton said of her frenemy.

Kim, unsurprisingly, distanced herself from the hotel heiress, though the two appear to have buried the hatchet in recent years.

Katy Perry

Katy Perry went full Mean Girls on Taylor Swift back in 2014 when Taylor made comments in an interview, believed to refer to Perry.

"She would come up to me at awards shows and say something and walk away, and I would think, 'Are we friends, or did she just give me the harshest insult of my life?'" Swift said.

It provoked the legendary response from an unamused Perry: "Watch out for the Regina George in sheep's clothing".

Charlotte Church

At the height of their fame in the noughties, Girls Aloud took a swing at several celebrities, including Charlotte Church, who they accused of copying their sound with her single Crazy Chick.

"Charlotte Church is a nasty little piece of work with a fat head. I don't know who she and her scabby boyfriend think they are," said Cheryl Cole.

It prompted this epic response from the Welsh star: "Unlike Cheryl Cole and the girls, I have co-written seven of my album tracks. I fail to see how that means I have copied their sound. I mean, I haven't resorted to wearing short skirts and dating a footballer to get into the charts," she said.

Prince

Mind you, pop star rivalries have been going on almost as long as pop itself, as shown in the big musical burn between Prince and Michael Jackson at the height of their fame.

There was tension between the two after Prince refused an offer to appear on Jackson's Bad album and duet with him on the charity single We Are the World.

Amid growing media about which of the two stars was the greatest, Prince threw the ultimate shade: "Michael Jackson's album was only called Bad because there wasn't enough room on the sleeve for Pathetic," he said.

Kim Kardashian

Kim Kardashian vs Chloe Grace Moretz kicked off in 2016 after Kim posted one of her famous nude selfies, prompting derision from the younger star.

"I truly hope you realise how important setting goals are for young women, teaching them we have so much more to offer than just our bodies," said Chloe on Twitter.

Kim was not going to take that one lightly, Tweeting back: "Let's all welcome @ChloeGMoretz to Twitter, since no one knows who she is. Your Nylon cover is cute boo," she added, referring to a magazine shoot Moretz had done.

Lily Allen

Lily Allen and Courtney Love had a fiery bust-up which seems to have started at the NME Awards in 2010, when Courtney claimed that Lily prevented anyone else from being dressed by Chanel at The Brits.

Lily only added fuel to the fire when she took to Twitter to deny the fight, adding: "I would never fight with her. As a rule I don't pick on crazy old ladies."

And they're not the only singers to clash.

Mariah Carey

Mariah Carey once firmly blasted rumours she would perform a duet with Jennifer Lopez.

"I'd rather be onstage with a pig," she said. "A duet with Jennifer Lopez and me just ain't going to happen."

Miley Cyrus

And Miley Cyrus gave short shrift to Sinead O'Connor when the latter wrote an open letter warning Miley she was being exploited by the music industry.

"I don't have time to write you an open letter cause I'm hosting and performing on SNL this week," Cyrus wrote.

Daniel Craig

Even James Bond is capable of being a bitch. Back in 2011, Daniel Craig had a rant about the Kardashians at the height of their fame in an interview with GQ.

"You mean all I have to do is behave like a f***ing idiot on television and they'll pay me millions of dollars?" He said of their success.

Sounds like he's not a fan, then.
