Michelle Heaton has showed off her toned physique and opened up about how exercise helped her cope with menopause.

The former Liberty X singer (42) said that the shortage of Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) in the UK is “f***ed up” but shared her top tips for easing symptoms of menopause.

HRT boosts hormone levels, typically oestrogen and progesterone, that decrease as women get older and alleviate a host of symptoms associated with menopause.

However, the UK is currently experiencing currently supply and manufacturing issues with HRT as a result of increased demand.

Taking to Instagram on Tuesday morning, Michelle shared a series of snaps from her workout session in the gym and showed off her sculpted arms and back.

She wore a matching olive sports bra and leggings from iGD Sport as she worked on her upper body first thing in the morning.

In her caption, the singer revealed how exercise helps her to cope with the “life inhabiting” symptoms of menopause as she called on other women to continue pushing for HRT.

“Menopause…” she began.

“It’s all over the news this week how #HRT is becoming increasingly scarce on the #NHS amongst a lot of things.

It’s been a long 8 years ... @hughhanley would say a VERY long 8 years for me to find exactly what my body needs as I am without any natural hormone.

“And now millions of women are finding themselves without what they need.

“I recently discussed what symptoms we all are going through and some are life inhabiting!

“So, let’s talk about the importance of something we CAN act on to help! Exercise! Proven to help women in menopause by: better sleep/ retaining muscle mass/ agility/ activity levels/ stress levels/ muscle and joint pain/ hunger/ irrational eating/ levelling out hormones.”

Michelle continued: “If like me, brain fog and tiredness is part of your story, it is hard to get up and go. My everyday life does not always look like this!

“But I try. Do something, anything, a walk, a jog, playing football with the kids. Anything is better than nothing.

“And in the meantime, keep knocking that door of your doctor ... It’s our need and basic rights to have #hrt don’t give up!

“It’s becoming a postcode lottery of who and where gets it and it’s not fair.. it’s f***ed up - excuse my French!

“Let’s help each other with ways we can ease our symptoms...”
