Former RTE star Michelle Heaton has expressed hope for her future after years battling booze and drugs in a poignant photo with her seven-year-old son Aaron Jay.

The former Liberty X and Atomic Kitten singer, who once revealed she was “close to death” after a three-day cocaine binge that saw her consume “a gram a night” of the Class A drug, looked a picture of health in the snap she shared with her 231,000 Instagram followers.

The mum-of-two wrote: “As I look at you…I can see my future for the first time in years as so bright and full of hope and sobriety.

“I’m so grateful I get this chance to be a better mum! One day at a time x.”

Michelle recently checked in to the famous Priory for recovering and help after finding herself at rock bottom.

It was close pal Katie Price who encouraged the reality TV star to book herself into rehab and she later reunited with her family including Aaron Jay and husband Hugh Hanley and nine-year-old daughter Faith Michelle.

Michelle revealed earlier this year that she was “days from death” when she entered the rehab facility, and was told by a therapist that she “might not make it”.

After leaving rehab, Michelle said that what she had been doing “was a suicide mission”.

“I was crying out for help when I couldn't actually ask for help. When you're an addict, it feels like there's no way out,” she said.

She had been drinking two bottles of wine and a bottle of vodka “virtually every day since 2018” until last September when she “hit rock bottom with the alcohol and had excruciating pains”.

“My doctor could feel my liver sticking out because I was so thin,” she recalled.
