Kim Kardashian slammed for telling women to 'get your f**king ass up and work'

The 41-year-old made the comments during a video clip filmed for Variety magazine to promote her family’s new fly-on-the-wall style Hulu show.

“I have the best advice for women in business,” Kim said.

“Get your f**king ass up and work. It seems like nobody wants to work these days. You have to surround yourself with people who want to work.”

“That’s so true,” her sister Kourtney chimed in.

“Have a good work environment,” Kim continued.

“Where everybody loves what they do, because you have one life. No toxic work environments, and show up and do the work.”

Her comments drew criticism from hoards of people online because of her wealthy upbringing and privilege as someone who has access to unlimited resources thanks to her billionaire status.

One person who criticised her comments is Jessica DeFino, a beauty critic who claims she previously worked for the famous family.

“I was an editor on the Kardashian apps in 2015 in LA, worked days nights & weekends, could only afford groceries from the 99 Cents Only Store, called out ‘sick’ more than once bc I couldn’t put gas in my car to get to the office, & was reprimanded for freelancing on the side,” she said.

Another person pointed out how her mother’s company, Jenner Communications, previously advertised an unpaid intern role for an ‘errand runner’ with an extensive list of requirements.

The job description required someone available to do jobs for the “client and their family.”

Another person slamming the comments said: “Kimberly believes we are poor because we are lazy, not because we get paid minimum wage.”

“Says the person with staff and a cr*p ton of money to start with,” another tweeted, adding: “Bad timing for @Variety_TV on International Women's Day we should be lifting up our sisters not calling other women lazy. #KimKardashian”

“How about, ‘no one wants to be exploited anymore.’ And also … we’re still in the middle of a pandemic that took millions out of the workplace for reasons across the spectrum from death to lack of childcare. This is some privileged rhetoric, smh #kardashians,” another social media user stated.

Just last year, seven of her former employees filed a lawsuit claiming wage theft.

The suit claimed that they were paid late, didn’t receive payslips, refused overtime pay, and sometimes forced to work without a break.

They also claimed 10 pc of their wages were held for tax which was not paid to the government.

One person claimed that when they brought up overtime pay, the tax issue and meal break, they were immediately fired.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Kardashian told Page Six that the employees were hired and paid through a third party.

“Kim is not party to the agreement made between the vendor and their workers, therefore she is not responsible for how the vendor manages their business and the agreements they have made directly with their staff.”

“Kim has never not paid a vendor for their services and hopes that the issue between these workers and the vendor who hired them can be amicably resolved soon.”

She’s not the only one who’s come under fire for her comments about work ethic, former Love Island star Molly-Mae Hague was recently slammed for saying that everyone has the “same 24 hours in a day.”

Molly’s comments were largely criticised because of her role as the creative director of Pretty Little Thing.

In 2020, The Sunday Times discovered that the company were paying their garment workers £3.50 per hour, way below the minimum wage, for working at a factory in Leicester.
