Former Fair City star Jenny Dixon has encouraged people to be kind no matter what their views, after she was verbally abused on the street for wearing a mask.

The actress recounted how she was out shopping in Dublin city on Sunday morning when a man suddenly confronted her.

"I was in a pretty great mood as I was walking down Wicklow Street," she revealed, "when a well-dressed man in his 40s came towards me.

"I didn't take much notice, only that the path is narrow and maybe I should side step on the road slightly to speed things along and make room for others," she told RSVP Live.

"He stops, pointedly and like an opportunistic self-elected statesman he loudly. 'pretend shouts' at the diners to 'keep their 2 meters distance', as 'they are scaring the woman with the mask'. ‘Look, she’s living in fear’.

"I also just then realised I'd forgotten to take my make off after leaving a shop I was in or I simply wasn't too bothered as I'd be popping into Another one in a matter of moments", she added.

"Momentarily thrown, realising I was indeed the subject of his pompously aired targeted mockery. I decided it best not to give him his deeply sought after stage (he needs to audition for that sh*t), she joked."

Jenny encouraged people to be kind no matter what their views, pointing out that mocking and pointing at others is never okay.

"It was very strange and passive aggressive", Jenny said, "so, I just decided to 'write it out' so to speak! It relaxed me then after!"
