Aidan Gillen has been signed up to play another crime boss in new TV series Mayor of Kingstown.

The Irish star, who was gang leader John Boy in Love/Hate, a gypsy gangster in Peaky Blinders and will soon appear as another criminal kingpin in Kin, will play the leader of a Russian mob in the ten-episode series.

The plot follows the McLusky family, power brokers in Kingstown, Michigan, where the business of incarceration is the only thriving industry.

Tackling themes of systemic racism, corruption and inequality, the series provides a stark look at their attempt to bring order and justice to a town that has neither, according to Deadline.

Hollywood star Jeremy Renner will play the mayor of the town, Mike McLusky.

Game of Thrones star Gillen, 53, will appear regularly as Milo Sunter, a leader of the Russian mafia currently serving a life sentence in Kingstown’s supermax prison.

The drama is being made by Taylor Sheridan, co-creator of the successful Yellowstone series.

Other stars include Hamish Allan-Headley who will portray Robert, a SWAT Captain on the drug task force.

James Jordan will play Ed Simmons, a prison guard at Kingstown Prison, and Nichole Galicia the fiercely loyal assistant Rebecca to Renner’s character Mike.

Perry Mason star Andrew Howard will play Duke, a key member of the Aryans and a former inmate of Kingstown Prison.

Mandela Van Peebles will portray Sam, a young prison guard in over his head.

Nishi Munshi will be Tracy McLusky, the wife of the youngest McLusky brother Kyle, who is a police officer in Kingstown.

Necar Zadegan, of NCIS: New Orleans will portray Evelyn Foley, the Assistant District Attorney and one of the power brokers in Kingstown.
