Army Appeal US Army offers $50K reward for information on missing soldier with Irish passport

The US Army Criminal Investigation Division is offering $50,000 for anyone with information in the search for a soldier with Irish citizenship.

Private Richard Halliday (22) went missing from Fort Bliss, Texas more than 18 months ago on July 23rd, 2020.

At the time of his disappearance, he was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 43rd Air Defense Artillery Regiment of the 11th Air Defense Artillery Brigade at Fort Bliss.

Mr Halliday is a dual citizen of the United States and Ireland with passports from both countries, according to CID officials.

However, his Irish passport expired in May 2020 and hasn't been renewed since.

On Wednesday, army officials announced that reward money for information on Mr Halliday’s disappearance would be doubled to $50,000 in the hopes of increasing public awareness and creating new leads.

Special Agent Marlon Soto, the resident agent-in-charge of the Fort Bliss CID Office said: “We want to find Private Halliday and bring him home to his family.

“We continue to ask for the public’s assistance in providing any credible information that might lead to finding Private Halliday.”

In a statement on social media, the soldier’s family said that they are thankful that the CID decided to increase the reward for information.

“It gives Richard value and makes him important. It shows that the Army has a good intention of finding Richard,” his mother Patricia Halliday said in a video posted to Facebook.

“I think it’s the largest reward for a case like this in the United States Army history.

“We love you, Richard. We want to find you and we want to find out what happened to you. We won’t give up," she added.
