Two arrests in loyalist Geordie Gilmore murder investigation

Two men have been arrested by police investigating the murder of Geordie Gilmore in Carrickfergus on Monday.

Mr Gilmore was in his vehicle in the Pinewood Avenue area when he was shot in the neck at around 2.15pm.

He later died in hospital. 

Detective Inspector Darren McCartney said: “The men, aged 35 and 28, have been taken to Musgrave Serious Crime Suite where they are currently assisting police with their enquiries.

“We are aware that a number of people were in the area at the time of the shooting and would appeal to anyone who witnessed the attack to contact detectives in the incident room on 02890 259542, phone police on 101 quoting serial 605 15/03 or phone Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if you would prefer to remain anonymous.
