The PSNI are investigating after two men, one armed with a carpet knife, robbed a Belfast city centre store in broad daylight.

A female shop owner was injured in the attack, sustaining minor cuts to her head and neck and she remains badly shaken.

The incident happened yesterday in the North Street area of the city at around 5pm.

The shop owner was targeted as she was locking up the shop in what the police have described as a “terrifying ordeal”.

The men then made off with a sum of cash and a mobile phone.

Detective Sergeant Duffield said: “One of the men is described as being around six feet in height, wearing blue clothing, with a blue and white face-mask.

“I am appealing to anyone with information, or who noticed any suspicious activity, to contact us on 101 quoting reference number 1524 of 09/07/21.”
