The PSNI have issued an appeal for information after a partially sighted woman in her 60s had her dog threatened while being robbed by a knife-wielding man.

The woman had been walking in the Elm Street area of the city when she was approached by two men, one of whom pulled a knife.

He threatened the woman and her dog, forcing her to hand over her purse which contained money at around 8.30pm on Sunday.

Detective Sergeant O’Flaherty said: “This was a despicable and utterly cowardly act, which has left the victim understandably traumatised.

“I am appealing to members of the public to contact us with any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem.

“Please call 101 quoting reference number 1389 of 30/11/21.”
