A 19-year-old man has been beaten with a baseball bat and shot during an attack in Strabane, County Tyrone.

It was reported shortly after 7.20pm last night that two masked men had entered a property in the Springhill Park area with guns and a baseball bat.

Detective Sergeant Connolly said: “A 19-year-old man was beaten with the baseball bat before being shot in the leg.

“He was taken to hospital for treatment for his injuries.

“I would appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have any information that could help with our enquiries, to contact detectives on 101 quoting reference 1668 of 09/02/22.
