Derry successful Man arrested under terrorism act in Derry by police investigating New IRA

The arrested man has been taken to Belfast for questioning

A man has been arrested in Derry following a police operation in the city.

He was arrested under the Terrorism Act and has been taken to to the Musgrave Serious Crime Suite at Musgrave Police Station in Belfast for questioning.

Officers from the PSNI’s Terrorism Investigation Unit with support from their policing colleagues carries out the search and arrest operation as part of their ongoing investigation into the activities of the New IRA.

A spokesperson added: "This arrest is a continued demonstration of our commitment to use all tools at our disposal to reduce the threat posed by violent dissident republicans and I would encourage anyone with information in relation to the New IRA to contact police."
