It is understood the teen was not from the area


A 19-year-old man has died following a single vehicle collision in Banbridge.

The incident happened shortly after 1pm yesterday in the Foxleigh Fields area of the town.

When the police attended the scene the man was pronounced dead.

Reports suggest the man was cleaning guttering when a lorry reversed into scaffolding.

Local UUP councillor Glenn Barr Tweeted: "Thoughts and prayers are with the young 19 year old man and his family who sadly lost his life in an accident involving a lorry today in Banbridge.

"The young man is not local. Safe in the arms of Jesus."

Alliance councillor for Banbridge, Brian Pope, tweeted: "I wish to offer my sincere condolences to the family of the young man who sadly died in the Foxleigh Fields area of Banbridge today.

"Desperately upsetting news , and my thoughts and prayers are with the family of the young man at this very sad time."
