A man has died following a hit and run collision in Belfast.
The incident happened on Friday night at around 10:20pm.
Richard Gerard Boyle (42), from the Dumurry area, was struck by a vehicle in the Stewartstown Road area of the west of the city.
He was taken to hospital after the incident for treatment to his injuries, but sadly later died.
The victims dog is also believed to have died in the incident.
The driver of the vehicle did not stop at the scene after Mr Boyle was struck.
A 23-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident.
The police have asked for anybody with any information on a dark coloured Volkswagen Golf, which they believe may have been involved, and for anyone who was on the Stewartstown Road between 9.30pm and 10:20pm, or who might have dashcam footage, to contact them.
A VW Golf was later found out in the Turf Lodge area.
