#nofilter: The honest beauty column

Heatwave 2021 had us all in a sweaty mess recently, which explains why I had all the staycation feels to stop work and begin editing my beauty bag for a break away. Here are my essentials from Littlewoods Ireland, which stocks the best beauty, skin and body care brands, to slay-cay.

Caudalie Vinoclean Instant Foaming Cleanser, €16

PACKING light is a life skill, but never skimp on a good cleanser while road-tripping.

Packed with moisturising grape and purifying sage this soap-free liquid transforms into a light-as-air foam to lift off dirt without leaving the skin dry.

Littlewoods has the perfect selection of travel-size beauty with everything you'll need to glow on location this summer. To celebrate their staycation edit, we've got an Elemis x Hayley Menzies Skin Wellness Essentials kit, worth €100, up for grabs. Just send your name and contact details to competitions@sundayworld.com, with 'Elemis' in the subject line. Entries close August 6. Usual T&Cs apply.

Dr Paw Paw The Classic Collection Multipurpose Balm Trio, €24.99

I love a mini product for throwing in my bag when I am about to hit the open road. I love it even more when said mini is a multi-purpose product. Enriched with castor seed oil to condition, pawpaw to nourish and aloe vera to soothe, this handy tube packs all the moisture of a lip balm with the colour of lipstick. Done and done.

Emma Hardie Protect & Prime Moisturiser SPF30, €55.20

SOME SPFs can leave you looking like you've just had a fight with a tub of Sudocrem - and lost. Not this one, which offers broad spectrum protection from the sun's harmful rays, but is light as a feather.

The dual-action holiday essential shields against UVA and UBB damage for up to eight hours (so don't forget to top up). Infused with light-diffusing particles, it also blurs imperfections creating the perfect base for your make-up - no filter needed.

Patchology Breakout Box, €18

I always end up with a plus-one when I go on holiday. Yes, a pimple always pops up to come along for the ride. If you can relate, then this is the box for you. It contains 24 blemish shrinking salicylic acid dots, 24 pore clearing anti-blemish dots and three detoxifying charcoal nose strips. Pop one on - and spot the difference.

Philip Kingsley Flaky Itchy Scalp Anti-Dandruff Shampoo, €90

Taking a dip in salt water and hot weather can cause havoc to your scalp. Armed with anti-microbial ingredients, this cult shampoo calms the scalp while clearing it of stubborn flakes and skin cell build-up. The one-litre bottle may seem pricey, but it's worth it for flickable tresses all summer long.

L'Occitane Lavender Hand Cream, €19

Let's play a game - count how many hand sanitiser stations you use on an average day. Now imagine how many you're going to hit up on staycation. There's garages to pillage for goodies on the way, and local eats and activities once you land. In other words, your hands will get dehydrated - fast.

I adore this natural skincare brand and this lavande hand cream is one of their bestsellers for a reason. Enriched with shea butter and lavender essential oil from Haute Provence, massaged into mitts regularly, it's practically a holiday for your hands.
