A woman in the UK is searching for an “angel” Irish homeless man who looked after her following a disastrous date in Liverpool.

The woman, who does not wish to be identified, had been in Liverpool on a date but found herself alone in the city without a phone, money or her bank card.

The woman was in distress following her experience and was scared and alone before she was approached by a homeless Irish man named Joe.

Her daughter told the Liverpool Echo: “She had been through a horrible experience and found herself in a city she doesn't know well, walking and crying with nothing on her.”

"The homeless man Joe bumped into her and asked what was the matter.”

"He was so amazing, he walked with her to Lime Street station and waited with her for hours. He put newspaper over her legs to keep her warm,” she explained.

"He even offered to use the money he had collected that night to buy her a hot drink, but she said she couldn't do that."

Her daughter said: "My mum said that Joe was an angel and that god put him there to look after her that night - I feel like this is something that could only happen in Liverpool."

Joe and the woman spoke all night and shared life stories as they waited for the first train of the morning to arrive to take her home,

When the first train arrived, Joe spoke to staff who helped get the woman safely home.

The woman and her daughter now wish to find Joe again to thank him for his generosity.

“What he did was just amazing and we would love to see him again and say thank you."

Described as an older Irish gentleman with a short, slim build, he “was wearing a new pair of trainers that he had been very happy to be able to buy.”
