Garda Appeal Woman (40s) in 'serious condition' following Luas crash in Dublin 8

A woman has been hospitalised after being hit by a Luas this afternoon.

The incident took place shortly after 2pm today, Thursday 28th October, at Steeven’s Lane in Dublin 8 and involved a Luas tram and a female pedestrian.

Gardaí attended the scene following reports of a collision and the woman, aged in her 40s, was taken to St James’ Hospital by ambulance. She is understood to be in a “serious” condition.

The road was closed while a technical examination of the scene took place but has since fully reopened.

Gardaí are now appealing for witnesses to the incident to come forward with information.

A garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a serious injury collision involving a Luas tram and pedestrian at Steeven’s Lane, Dublin on Thursday 28th October, 2021.

“At approximately 2.15pm Gardaí attended at Steeven’s Lane following reports of a collision involving a Luas tram and a female pedestrian. The pedestrian, a woman aged in her 40s, was removed from the scene by Ambulance to St James’s Hospital. Her condition is understood to be serious.

“The road was closed to facilitate a technical examination of the scene and has since fully reopened to traffic.
