Wexford General Hospital.
A woman aged in her 50s is understood to be in critical care at Wexford General Hospital after being hit in the head by a gate as Wexford was battered by strong winds during Storm Barra on Tuesday.
Emergency services were called to the scene in Clonard shortly after lunchtime yesterday, where the woman was apparently knocked unconscious by a gate blowing in the strong winds which caused chaos around the county.
She was rushed to Wexford General and is believed to have suffered a serious head injury, for which she is receiving treatment in the critical care unit and a decision has yet to be made on whether she will need to be transferred to another hospital for specialist treatment.
However, it is understood that she remains unconscious.
