Two men arrested in connection with fatal road crash in Co Kerry

Two men have been arrested by gardai investigating a fatal road traffic collision that happened in Co Kerry in January.
The men - who are aged in their 20s - are being quizzed about the incident at Dunrine on Tuesday, January 12 that cost the life of a local woman.
“Both men are currently being detained at Killarney Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984,” gardai said this evening.
Gardaí and emergency services had been alerted to a collision involving two cars on the N22 at near Lawlor’s Cross at approximately 4.15pm that day.
The woman, aged in her 80s, was passenger from one of the cars and was pronounced dead at University Hospital Kerry a short time after the collision.
The driver of the car she was travelling in, and the other passenger, along with the driver of the second car were taken to University Hospital Kerry for treatment of their injuries.
Gardaí had issued an appeal for any witnesses to come forward and also to any road users with camera footage (including dash-cam) who were in the locale of the N22 Killarney – Tralee Road at the time of the collision to make it available to investigators.
In particular, Gardaí are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed unusual driving behaviour on approach routes to Lawlor’s Cross from the Killarney direction between 4pm and 4.20pm to come forward.
