Latest figures Two further deaths and 514 new Covid-19 cases confirmed

There has been two further Covid-19 related deaths while 514 new cases of the virus have been confirmed by the Department of Health this afternoon.

This brings the Covid-19 death toll to 4,921 while the total number of confirmed cases in Ireland now stands at 252,809.

Of the cases notified today, 259 were diagnosed in men and 248 are women.

A total of 75 per cent of the new cases are in people under 45 years of age with an overall median age is 28 years old.

As of 8am today, 116 COVID-19 patients are hospitalised, of which 31 are in ICU. 11 additional hospitalisations in the past 24 hours.

As of May 7, 1,799,190 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Ireland with 1,305,178 people having received their first dose and 494,012 people having received their second dose.
