Tributes paid to 'true gentleman' Pat Meehan after tragic Tipperary crash

Tributes are being paid to a “lovely” and “kind” pensioner who was tragically killed in a car accident over the weekend.
Pat Meehan, who was aged in his 70s, died after he was struck by a car while out for a walk in Cahir, Co. Tipperary on Sunday afternoon.
The incident took place at shortly before 6pm on Castle Street in Cahir.
Mr Meehan was rushed to Cork University Hospital where he later passed away, while the driver of the car was not injured.
Tributes have been pouring in for the Kilcoran native over the past few days, with Mr Meehan being remembered as a beloved husband to his wife Nellie, father of three, and grandfather to eight grandchildren.
One friend of the family paid tribute to him online, writing: “Deepest sympathy to the Meehan family. Great memories and fun on Phil Boyles farm. A true gentleman. May he rest in peace.”
Another said: “To Mick, Audrey, kids, all the Meehan families and to all who knew and loved Pat, we send our sincere sympathies to ye all at this sad time. He was a friendly soul bless him. May he rest in peace with those gone before him to their eternal reward.”

A third added: “Our deepest sympathy to all the family, Pat was just one of our first acquaintances when my brother moved to Ballylooby. A lovely, kind, funny gentleman. He will be missed so much. Rest in Peace Pat.”
Someone else simply said: “Rest in peace friend.”
Mr Meehan will be laid to rest on Saturday 15th January following a funeral mass at 11am in St. Kieran's Church, Ballylooby.
