Tributes have been paid to a two-month old boy who has died just weeks after the tragic death of his mum Emma Naughton.

Danny Naughton, from Moyvilla in Oranmore, Co Galway, tragically passed away on Monday following an illness.

His funeral notice tells how Danny is "the adored infant son of recently deceased Emma Naughton, who died on 27th February, 2022."

Galway mum Emma (25) had given birth to twins on January 25 but sadly died just over four weeks later.

In 2014 the 'Ireland Heads West for Emma' fundraiser was held at Ballybrit racecourse, for Ms Naughton who had the rare liver cancer fibrolamellar carcinoma and needed treatment in the US.

A notice on RIP.ie details how baby Danny will repose at the Naughton family home in Oranmore until March 26th before a funeral mass the next day.

It reads: "Danny will be very sadly missed and mourned by his loving Dad, Paul Morrisson and by his twin brother Kai, by his grandparents Pauline Naughton and Tom Heavey, his great-grandparents and members of the Naughton, Heavey, Morrison and O’Connell families.

"Reposing at the family home at Moyvilla, Oranmore, Co. Galway (H91 V6K0) all day Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 24th, 25th and 26th March.

"Mass of the Angels along with Emma’s Months Mind Mass will be celebrated at the same time on Sunday, 27th March, at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Oranmore H91XC61.

"Danny will laid to rest with Emma following Mass at Rinville Cemetery."

Last night, Danny's family and friends shared poignant tributes to the tot online.

One mum wrote: "I shed a tear for you all, Baby Danny you will wrap your arms around your precious mom and you both will protect your family. So sad."

While another wrote: "My deepest heartfelt sympathies to Pauline, Tom, and your family and all the Naughton family.

"Impossible to understand how life can be so cruel at times. Ye are in my thoughts. May God help ye through this devastatingly sad and lonely time."

In February, Danny's mum was described as an 'angel' following her tragic passing.

A message on RIP.ie said: “After an illness bravely borne, the joy of the arrival of babies Danny and Kai brought to Emma was way beyond her dreams.

“As she now watches over her little ones, may her brave heart and gentle soul rest in peace.”

Ms Naughton was a native of Oranmore and is survived by her parents Pauline and Tom (Heavey), her father John, sister Katie, brothers Jack, Tommy, Noah, stepbrother Dylan, her son’s dad Paul and the extended Naughton, Heavey and O'Connell family.

Ms Naughton was laid to rest in Rinville Cemetery, Oranmore at noon today, following a requiem mass in St. Mary's Parish Church, Athenry.

Tributes have been paid to Ms Naughton from members of the Irish vintage car community, which she was an integral part of.

The Vintage Blues and Two's clubs said its members are “gutted to hear the devastating news about this most beautiful young lady."

“We were all so happy to head west to help her in 2014. The entire vintage community came together for one of our own,” the club said.
