Condolences have flooded in for a young Dublin man who was killed in a motorbike crash on New Year’s Day. 

Josh Paul Boyd (19) of Marewood Crescent, Ballymun, will be laid to rest on Friday following his death on January 1 when the motorbike he was riding struck a lamppost on Sillogue Road at around 3.30pm.

Emergency services arrived at the scene shortly after the crash, however, Josh was pronounced dead a short time later.

His death notice on RIP.ie states that Josh died tragically, “following an accident”.

“Beloved brother of the late Lee,” it adds, “Josh Paul will be sadly missed by his loving mother Rosaleen, father Joseph, brothers and sisters Kelly, Joseph, Keira, Leon, Darryl, and Shauna.”

The notice also refers to "girlfriend Chloe, aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, extended family, neighbours and a large circle of friends".

His funeral mass in on Friday, January 14 at 10am in The Church of the Holy Spirit, Sillogue, followed by burial in Glasnevin Cemetery (St Paul's Section).

It adds that the family has thanked people for their understanding “at this most difficult time."

People have left numerous messages of support in the condolences section.

“Deepest sympathy to the Boyd Family, to Chloe and extended family friends and members of the Ballymun community near and far on the loss of Josh,” one person has written.

“Always remembered, never forgotten. In my thoughts and prayers.. RIP Josh.”

Another adds: “Condolence to the family and friends of Josh on their sad loss. May God give them all the strength and courage to face the dark days and months ahead. Rip Josh, watch over your family and girlfriend from above.”

One adds: “Thinking of all the Boyd family, especially Rosie and Joey, Kelly, Bobo, Kiera, Leon, Darryl, Shauna and also his girlfriend at this devastating time I am so sorry for your loss.. May god give you all the strength get through this.”

Another person said they were “thinking of all the Boyd family at this sad time, look down on your poor Mam and Dad Josh, and all your brothers and sisters and especially your beautiful girlfriend, life is just not fair. R.I.P Josh forever young.”

One person said their thoughts “are with Rosie and Joey and all the family at this sad time ... you’re in my thoughts and prayers.. rest in heavenly peace Josh xx forever young.”

Another offered their deepest sympathies to “All who loved Josh. It's such a heart-breaking time for you all. As a mother myself I can only imagine the pain you must feel. I pray to the Lord that he will give you all the strength in the days, weeks and months ahead and look after Chloe and their new baby.”
