Teenager killed, another critically injured in Killarney road crash

A teenager has been killed and another teenager is in a critical condition following a crash in the Killarney area overnight.

The crash occurred at approximately 1am on the Ross Road, close to Ross Castle.

Gardaí are investigating a fatal, single vehicle road traffic collision that occurred on the Ross Road in Killarney, Co. Kerry at approximately 1am this morning, 7th July 2021.

The driver of the car, a male youth in his teens, was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the car, also a male youth in his teens, was taken to Kerry University Hospital to receive treatment for serious injuries.

The scene remains closed this morning to allow for a technical examination.

This vehicle was subject to interaction with Gardaí prior to the collision. As such the matter has been referred to GSOC.
