collision Teenager in critical condition after horrific car crash late last night
A teenager is in a critical condition in hospital after a car crash in Co Mayo late last night.
The teen who was a passenger in the car was rushed to hospital while the driver was also hospitalised with non-serious injuries.
The collision happened on the N5 in Sheeaune, Westport at 11.45pm when the young man's car veered off the road and collided with a concrete fence.
Gardai rand other emergency services are still the scene this morning while, the N5 remains partially closed as a result of the smash.
A garda spokesperson said: "Gardaà are currently at the scene of a single vehicle road traffic collision in Sheeaune, Westport, Co. Mayo which occurred last night, Tuesday 15th December 2020 at approximately 11.45pm.
"The driver of the car was taken to Mayo University Hospital with non-serious injuries.
"The road remains closed and Garda Forensic Collision Investigators are conducting a technical examination. Diversions are in place. Investigations are ongoing."
