A suspected explosive device was discovered in a river bank beside a Dublin church today.

The device was found by people carrying out a clean-up at a river bank beside Our Lady of Dolours Church Glasnevin this morning.

They alerted gardai who have sealed off an area outside the nearby Tolka House pub.

A garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí in Ballymun are currently at scene at a suspect device which was located on the river bank on Mobhi Drive, Glasnevin, this morning Saturday 13th March, 2021 at approximately 11.30a.m.

“The EOD team are en-route at this time and the area is sealed off.”
